Behind the Music
Known for his engaging melodies and his haunting sounds inspired by jazz and classical music, Carlos Taboada has always aimed to lift people's hearts with music.

A composer, producer, saxophonist, & pianist, Carlos Taboada has premiered works at the famous Hill Auditorium and the historically precious Canterbury House in Ann Arbor, MI. He has collaborated with award-winning singer Harrison Craig, internet star Julian Cianciolo, and many other talented musicians in the Ann Arbor area.

Carlos Taboada has uploaded original music on major listening platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, & SoundCloud, as well as various saxophone covers on Youtube. Deadbeat: The Original Soundtrack is his first film score composed and produced entirely by himself and his second film score overall. It is a fun and chilling mix of jazzy dance music and orchestral cues. Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird is an ambitious, multi-movement classical piece composed and recorded during the first two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. The recording sessions, coordinated by Taboada, were completely virtual, in which each musician recorded themselves in their home. Taboada mixed and mastered the tracks himself. In March 2022, Carlos Taboada's first orchestral composition, Phantasy in Red, which he also orchestrated, was premiered at Hill Auditorium. The recording is now on SoundCloud.

A Wolverine at heart, Carlos Taboada holds a BM in Composition, a BFA in Jazz Studies, and an MM in Composition from the University of Michigan. His mentors include Michael Daugherty, Kristen Kuster, Roshanne Etezady, Andrew Bishop, and Erik Santos.
